Church History

Living Hope Church of God was founded on March 1, 1959 as the Laurel Church of God. The newly organized church was formed with twelve charter members. Today, Living Hope is a thriving church of about 70-80 people that continues to grow. We feature contemporary praise & worship, Christian education, and Bible-based preaching.

Presently located at 613 Montgomery Street in historic Laurel, Maryland, we occupy a structure that was originally built in 1907 for Laurel Methodist Episcopal Church South. In 1941, the church changed hands to the Seventh Day Adventists. For a time, we believe the building was also used as a Masonic Lodge.  According to county tax records, the church changed hands to the Church of God on October 25, 1965.

In 1999, Laurel Church of God changed its name to Trinity International. Three years later, in 2002, it once again changed its name to its present name, Living Hope Church of God.
