“My soul makes its boast in the Lord” (Psa 34:2). If you were asked to name the one thing in your life you are most proud of, what would it be? Take a minute and think about it. Would it be a person, possession, position, performance, or something similar? What makes you proud? For the psalmist, it was God Himself! His soul boasted in the Lord. The “soul” is commonly thought of as the source and center of our mind, will and emotions. In effect, the psalmist is saying all that I think, do, and feel is governed by God. When I think right thoughts, it’s because of the Lord. When I deny myself and obey Him, it’s through His enabling power. When I express love to others, it’s because of the grace given to me by the Lord to do so. God offers to do this for each of His children. Are you letting Him do it for you? Make your boast in the Lord!
