Compromising the Faith.  The Reverend Peter Marshall, on being elected Chaplain of the U.S. Senate in January 1947 said, “The choice before us is plain: Christ or chaos, conviction or compromise, discipline or disintegration. I am rather tired of hearing about our rights and privileges as American citizens. The time is come - it now is - when we ought to hear about the duties and responsibilities of our citizenship.  America’s future depends upon her accepting and demonstrating God’s government.”  While Reverend Marshall was speaking of national citizenship, I’m thinking of another citizenship – our citizenship in the Kingdom of God.  It is high time for the American church to stop compromising the Faith by focusing on so-called rights and privileges (i.e., instant gratification), and instead refocusing on the One from whom every good and perfect gift comes.  We are not entitled, my friend, we are blessed!  As Christians, we must learn to accept and demonstrate God’s government in our own lives without compromise.  Only then, will we be the Church that Christ desires.
