The Holiness of God: One day, the prophet Isaiah had a vision of heaven.  The scene was so holy and overwhelming that Isaiah said, "Woe is me!  For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips" (Isa 6:5).  The apostle Peter had a similar experience with the holy God.  After hearing Jesus speak to the crowds and seeing His miraculous power displayed, he fell on his face and said, "Depart from me for I am a sinful man, O Lord" (Luk 5:8).  God's holiness is uncomfortable.  The believer who desires to get close to God has, no doubt, experienced this.  The flesh rises up; the heart hardens; the mind recoils.  But never allow that discomfort to keep you from Him.  Allow the drawing of the Spirit to lead you relentlessly toward Him.  And may we remain hidden in Christ (Col 3:3) as we approach the holy God.
