Husbands & Wives.  When the scripture found in 1 Peter 3:1-7 is quoted, it often conjures up thoughts of inequality in the minds of women and superiority in the minds of men.  However, when we consider the context of our text, we find that its purpose is to do neither.  It no more makes men superior than it makes women inferior.  What it does do is speak to the relationship between husbands and wives.  And it speaks to this relationship in a time when believers were living among unbelievers (1:1) and marriages were not all that they should be.  The Apostle Peter is driven by these two thoughts as he lays out guidelines for harmonious Christian marriage.  It is vital that today's Christian marriages reflect Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.
