Love’s Demands. In a society that encourages and embraces love without reverence, restraint, or responsibility, we as Christians must realize that genuine love makes demands on us. All of us have probably said or had someone say something like this to us: "If you really loved me, you’d…". Now, while the demands that humans put on love are not always right or fair, the demands that God places on love always are. Jesus said, "If you love me, you will obey what I command" (Joh 14:15, NIV). First Corinthians 13:4-8 outlines some of the demands of love. Today, let’s look at some of the demands placed on Philemon’s love by Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
