Christian Metamorphosis: When you see a butterfly, do you consciously remember that it didn’t begin its life that way?  Unless we give it real thought, most of us forget that it was once a caterpillar.  The caterpillar had to die – no more crawling on the ground – and the butterfly came into existence and began its new life above its former surroundings.  The Christian undergoes a similar metamorphosis.  We didn't begin our lives as Christians, but as earth-bound sinners.  We underwent the "new birth" and became heaven-bound saints.  We are not, or should not be, what we once were.  We have been changed.  For the butterfly, it was the cocoon that brought the change.  But what was it for the Christian?  Today, we'll look at what we were, what we are, and what brought the change.
